Story Planning Workshops

In the Story Planning Workshop, Lynn will guide you step-by-step through the process of outlining your next family history story.

 

From identifying key events and characters to organizing your narrative flow, this workshop will provide you with all the tools you need to turn your family's past into a compelling story.

 

By the end of our time together, you’ll have a fully developed outline that serves as a roadmap for your writing journey.

 

Whether you're a seasoned writer or just beginning to explore your family's history, Lynn’s expert guidance will ensure you leave with a clear plan, ready to bring your story to life.

 

 

 

 

 

A Perfect Balance of Work & Play

During your stay there will be plenty of time to take advantage of the on-site activities, including an award winning spa, 2 restaurants, 3kms of beach, an indoor pool, whirlpool, exercise room, a relaxing rooftop lounge area good for giant chess, or self-guided yoga.

 

Rent a bike and explore some of the breathtaking scenery of the area. Ride through Rathtrevor Provincial Park or through Top Bridge Trails and enjoy a swim in the river before heading back.

Rentals are available for two hours, 1/2 day, and all day.

 

Also, available in the area for those who wish to venture off-site are wine tasting tours, kayaking, boating, hiking, spelunking, mini golf, nature interpretive tours like Shinrin-yoku (Forest Bathing) and of course, your choice of 18-hole or executive golf courses!

1-Bedroom Cottage

This one-bedroom cottage is a charmingly rustic, stand-alone dwelling set within the forest. All guestrooms have sliding doors with screens leading out to a private balcony, patio or deck area.This room does not have air conditioning, but fans are provided. This cottage is ideal for one writer or for a writer bringing a guest.

Each One-Bedroom Cottage features:

  • Living Room with Wood Burning Fire Place
  • Full kitchen & dining area, full bathroom
  • Private Deck, No air conditioning

The Oceanview Studios rooms are located in the newly renovated Texada or Gabriola building, nestled on the forested bluff overlooking the Salish Sea and Coastal Mountains.

 

With upper, main and lower floor locations available, each Oceanview Studio features:

  • Updated furnishings and decor
  • 1 King Bed, Gas Fireplace
  • Full Bathroom, Bar size Refrigerator, Coffee Maker
  • Air Conditioning, Private Balcony
  • These are multi-floor buildings with no elevators.

** 4 Nights of Accommodations in the charming and rustic surroundings of the Tigh- na-mara Resort and Spa.  

 

**3 Days of Workshops to delve deep into outlining your next family history story under Lynn's direction. Including our proprietary The StoryMaker Tool and Companion Guide. 

 

**Plenty of time to take in the charm of the resort as well as the majestic land it sits and participate in any of the resort's activities. 

 

**Evenings - Join us for a cozy evening filled with great conversation and a delicious dinner. Unwind with your fellow attendees as we share stories and enjoy the night together!

 

**Meals Include

Tuesday Evening - Welcome Reception with Food Stations

Wednesday -Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and Breaks

Thursday - Breakfast and Lunch and Breaks

Friday - Breakfast, Lunch, Breaks and Closing Dinner

 

**Each writer will receive a $100 Gift Card that can be applied to your Thursday night dinner at any Resort Restaurant or your Saturday morning breakfast before checking out. It can also be applied to any bar purchases or activities and spa treatments at the resort.

How to Get There

From the Airport

The best option from the Airport is to take a taxi or the skytrain from the airport to the Hullo Ferries at Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre, 1055 Canada Place, Unit 28, Vancouver. 

Visit https://www.hullo.com  for schedules. 

 

Let us know if this is how you are arriving as we are looking into shuttle services from the ferry terminal to the resort. 

 

We can look into this once we know your travel plans. ( This will be an additional cost.) 

 

BY PLANE

From Victoria
Drive north on Highway 1 to Nanaimo, just south of Nanaimo, take the exit for Highway 19 and the North Island. Bus connections are available from downtown.

From Vancouver and the Fraser Valley
Take the Lion's Gate or 2nd Narrows Bridge across Burrard Inlet, then follow the signs to Horseshoe Bay and take the BC Ferry to Nanaimo. Exit the ferry and keep to the 2 right lanes, then take Highway 19 North towards Parksville.

From Vancouver International Airport and South Vancouver
Take Highway 10 and 99, head to the BC Ferry terminal in Tsawwassen and catch the ferry to Duke Point (south Nanaimo). Head north on Highway 1 and then exit to Highway 19 and Parksville.

From Seattle
Head north on I-5 and cross the border at Blaine. Continue north on Highway 99 about 15 minutes, then take the exit for Tsawwassen and the ferries. Take the ferry to Nanaimo (Duke Point). Head north on Highway 1 and then exit to Highway 19 and Parksville. There are also ferries out of Anacortes and Port Angeles in Washington that will take you to Victoria, where you can follow Highway 1 and 19 north to Parksville and Qualicum Beach.

From Tofino or Ucluelet
Follow Hwy. 4, the 2 - 2 ½ hour drive leads directly to Qualicum Beach.

From the Comox Valley
Take either the scenic coastal Oceanside Route 19A south from Courtenay, or the four-lane Inland Island Highway 19 south. Either way, Parksville & Qualicum Beach are less than an hour away.
