    Immersed in the historic charm of Sligo, Ireland, our upcoming Elevate Retreat  promises to be a truly enriching experience. This is the perfect setting for family historians looking to be inspired, rejuvenated and elevate their writing all in the backdrop of a luxury Irish country house and its rich history. 

     

    Steeped in history, Temple House is a beautiful Georgian manor nestled within a private estate spanning over 1000 acres. Overlooking a 13th- century lakeside castle of the Knights Templar, this estate has been the cherished home of the Perceval family since 1665. More than just a hotel, Temple House is a historic haven offering luxurious country house accommodations. 

     

    Meander through mature parkland surrounding the house, its lush green grass maintained in perfect order with the assistance of sheep and lambs. Fine old trees provide the flock with a measure of shade on hot days and, in all directions, there is a screen formed by the natural woods that cover more than half the area of this impressive estate.

Each day, join Lynn, post breakfast for our morning céilí.  The term céilí originates from Irish culture and signifies a gathering. Under Lynn's guidance, we will assemble for an engaging session focused on elevating our writing skills. Storytelling

After mornings of writing, most afternoons will beckon us to venture out and explore the enchanting surroundings of Sligo, Ireland with Samuel Brett of Shanakee Adventures.  Sam is a third generation storyteller and a native of Ireland’s remote and wild northwest.  Sam will treat us to 3 afternoons of discovering hidden gems, and soak in the essence of the Irish countryside. Our afternoon explorations offer a chance to rejuvenate your creative spirit, sparking new ideas and perspectives for your family history narratives.

While you’re busy writing, your spouse can enjoy an array of exciting activities in and around Temple House and beyond.The Sligo Way offers a 49-mile trail with stunning views. Fishing enthusiasts will find Temple House Lake teeming with potential, where monster pike await. With some fishing gear available, the challenge of catching one of these legendary fish might be the perfect way to pass the time. The Tree Canopy Walk immerses you in the history, flora, and fauna of the region. For golfers, there are multiple golf courses that offer scenic and rewarding experiences on its rolling fairways. Whether exploring the land or water, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained during your stay.

    In the evening we will gather around the grand mahogany table with mesmerizing views down to the serene lake, while an open fire crackles contentedly, creating a cozy ambiance for your dining experience.

    Private Chef Karol Kowalczyk will look after us, including any dietary restrictions, ensuring a dining experience that is both delightful and personalized.

    By Road

    The easiest way to find Temple House is off the N17 Galway to Sligo main road.
    From North (Sligo Town / Donegal / Dublin):
    9km from Collooney N4/N17 junction, take brown sign left 0.5km south of Ballinacarrow.
    From South (Mayo / Galway / Roscommon):
    Through Tubber/Tobercurry then after 15km at village sign for Ballinacarrow turn right
    .

    2.5 hours from Dublin

    2 hours from Shannon
     3 hours from Belfast
    30 min to Ireland West, Knock Airport
     

    By Train

    Ballymote train station on the Sligo-Dublin line is a 6 minute taxi ride from us.
